New York Toughies on a smoking break, ca 1975

Colorized a photo of 3 boys in New York around 1975, can be compared to my earlier colorization of 2 Newsies taking a break with pipes and cigarettes in 1910 here and two younger boys in Naples right after WWII here .

Little Girl with Pet Kitten

Colorized a vintage photo of a girl posing with her pet kitten ca1900

4 boys called "doffer boys" who were part of the  Child Labor era in the US.  The jobs entailed the removal (doffing) and replacement of thread bobbins when empty in a factory in Macom,GA.  Colorized from a 1909 photo by Lewis Wickes Hine with some liberties on the background.

Creating an Alternate World with colorization and compositing

I have been doing that for several colorized subjects, but still sticking to the general content outline.  Here's a commonly colorized subject of a boy in the slums of Baltimore tak.en by John Vachon in July 1938.  With my visual discomfort for useless vacant space (not all are useless though, there is such a thing as breathing space) I added a 19th century graffiti and a pet dog to create a slightly new visual content to the photo.  I like the experimented result.  Actually I had used compositing before to bring more details in my colorized, but they are mostly limited to what is hinted at in the picture and often lost due to fading,.  I also used this here  for adding a car in the rightmost background and changing the lady walking on the street to the left.   Also here: where I injected cat staring out from the window background.

Here is my colorized take on a commonly colorized image of Newsies smoking at Skeeter’s Branch, St. Louis, Missouri, May 9, 1910.  at a time when smoking was cool, not surgeon general warning, until the mid 60s.  Original b&w photo photo by Lewis Hine.  Some liberties taken on the backdrop. See if you can identify.

Ageless French Kiss

Here's my colorized take on two kids with what looks like the start of wonderful relationship, a vintage photo circa 1950s
