Ansel Adams, Moon and half dome, 1960, colorized by Alex Y. Lim

Colorized a well-known photo by Ansel Adams printed in 1960 from a gelatin-silver negative. Ansel Adams captured the image at 4:14 in the the afternoon of December 28, 1960 with a Hasselblad camera and 250mm Zeiss Sonnar lens, releasing the mirror before operating the shutter to minimize vibration. It was one of his last well known photographs. Arguably, this is the definitive photograph of Half Dome and among the most famous images of Yosemite National Park . Colorized using creative liberties in casting an orange glow to the rock facade assuming that the half dome was facing sunset light opposite the rising moon.

"Salvation"

Vintage photo of a woman holding on to the cross from the waves about to engulf her.  Colorized from a photo by Fitz W. Guern ca 1890 or earlier.  This was another studio shot using painted backdrops as Guerin is famous for.  Used some creative liberties to composite real waves, sky, rocks and the wood ruins of a structure on which the lady stood.  This may have been inspired by paintings of the Noah Flood waters reaching mountain tops teeming with people, this time using Christian symbol of salvation.

Cottonwood tree branches in winter against a sunset sky, undated from online sources.

Experimenting with  Photoshop blending options with Tree branches in winter time against a colorized sky background.Even if the Photoshop version I use is already quite old (version 7 of the late 1990s), it does have some features I can use to simplify colorization
- the blending options.  Without this, I would have to colorize each and every space between the twics and branches of this cottonwood tree in winter.

Colorized photo of American liberators as they watch the Eiffel tower fly the French Tricolors again

This is a colorized photo taken after the liberation of France in Aug 1944, as the tricolors were hoisted back to its rightful position atop the historic Eiffel Tower. Hitler had earlier ordered this land landmark destroyed along with the entire Pari when he heard about the upcoming liberation of the country. The City fell to German occupation on June 14, 1940, French resistance fighters allegedly cut the elevator cables to the Eiffel Tower. This meant that if Hitler wanted to hoist a swastika flag, a soldier would have to climb the roughly 1710 stairs to the summit platform.

As Allies neared Paris in August 1944, a Frenchman scaled the tower and hung the French flag. When it became obvious that the Germans would lose Paris, Hitler ordered General Dietrich von Choltitz, the military governor of Paris, to turn the city into rubble – including the Eiffel Tower. General von Choltitz did not carry out the command. Reportedly, within hours of the Liberation of Paris, the Tower’s lifts worked again.
