She was one of 13 women selected by the Motion Picture Publicists Association as a "Baby Star", to highlight the most promising new film stars. She made the bulk of her films during the 1940s, starring in 22 feature films for Republic Pictures; 16 of these were Don Barry westerns.

Edward VIII (1894 – 1972) was King of the UK and Dominions of the British Empire, and Emperor of India, from 20 January 1936 until his abdication on 11 December the same year. He gave up his throne to be just a Duke for the love of a divorced American woman Wallis Simpson. Colorized from a photo by Olive Edis (1876 - 1955), Britain's first woman war photographer noted for her portraits of people from the ordinary to royalty and her WWI photos.

Hedy Lamarr, ca 1945/1946
Predating Elizabeth Taylor as being hailed the most beautiful woman in the world in her prime, Hedy Lamar may not have been much of an actress, but she was credited for having depicted on screen the first ever simulation of an orgasm and appearing nude (through deception by the director) in the film "Ecstasy" in 1933, a time when screen nudity was never heard of.

Credited with simulating the first on-screen orgasm (and also appearing nude) in a 1933 film called Ecstasy, Hedy Lamarr may not have been much of an actress, but such was her outstanding beauty it was said Vivien Leigh was selected for Gone With The Wind as much for her resemblance to 'the most beautiful woman in film' as to Scarlett O'Hara. Colorized a portrait ca 1935/36 in three versions.
